Come join our family. GLE Scrap Metal has an immediate opening for a full-time mechanic. Applicants should be mechanically inclined and have a knowledge of engine repairs, heavy equipment, and Hydraulics.
Responsibilities:- Day-to-day maintenance on stationary equipment, conveyors, and heavy equipment
- Performing all aspects of diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs
- Assists other staff mechanics
- Ability to repair and maintain mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, conveyor systems, production machines, and misc. equipment
- Organized attention to detail
- Ability to identify repairs that need to be made to equipment
- Rebuild/overhaul parts, motors
- Document troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repair activities
- Communicate and coordinate tasks with Management
- Perform preventative maintenance such as changing oil, gear lubes, blade & screen changes, motor changes, conveyor belt repairs
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs
- Estimates costs on repairs and requisitions new parts
- Conducts safety checks on all equipment
- Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures- 5+ years of experience in Mechanics - 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment operator
- Strong mechanical skills
- Flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends
- Ability to lift up to 75lbs
- Stand, bend, stoop, crawl, for periods of time
- Works in the hot summer elements outside
- Must pass full background check / drug test / physical
