We are seeking a multidisciplinary Lead Electrical Hardware Engineer with deep expertise in high-voltage systems, power electronics, and hardware integration for electric and hybrid platforms. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and validation of electrical hardware architectures, ensuring system performance, safety, and reliability. You will be responsible for guiding multidisciplinary teams in hardware design and testing, driving innovation in next-generation energy and power electronics systems.
- Lead the design and development of high-voltage hardware, including inverters, converters, power distribution units, and auxiliary systems
- Oversee electrical hardware integration with traction motors, energy storage, and vehicle systems
- Define system architecture, hardware specifications, and testing requirements for power electronics and electrical systems
- Direct schematic design, PCB layout reviews, and component selection for reliability and manufacturability
- Manage development of system simulation models (MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, etc.) for hardware validation and optimization
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, EMI/EMC requirements, and industry regulations
- Lead validation and verification of electrical hardware through lab testing, dynamometers, and high-voltage environments
- Mentor and support engineers in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and hardware optimization
- Collaborate closely with applications, software, mechanical, and validation teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Produce technical documentation, design reports, and white papers to communicate architectures and design decisions internally and externally
- Supervise and mentor interns, providing technical guidance and fostering their professional development
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field
- Experience within the following industries and ability to learn/lead within them:
- Batteries and Energy storage
- Engine gensets and Powerplants
- Motors
- Power distribution systems
- Thermal, LV, HV, and safety systems
- Proven leadership experience in electrical hardware design for power electronics or high-voltage systems
- Strong knowledge of inverter/converter topologies, switching devices, and thermal/electrical design principles
- Experience with PCB design, HV insulation, creepage/clearance requirements, and component qualification
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) validation tools
- Hands-on experience with high-voltage testing, lab equipment, and safety protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and hardware debugging skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities
- Flexible, adaptable, and able to lead in a fast-paced development environment
