Lead Electrical Designer

Contech Control Services is seeking team-oriented professionals who have expert knowledge of Lead Electrical Design as related to Control Systems Projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Lead Electrical Designer performs a wide range of duties which include some or all of the following:
•Electrical Design Lead for the delivery of large complex projects. This includes new installations and modifications to existing systems
•Electrical design of location plans, power, conduit-cable tray routing, lighting layouts, installation details, low voltage receptacles, welding receptacles, junction boxes, size and balance of loads for circuit breaker panels, panel schedule, block diagrams
•Design installations for medium voltage switchgear, motor control centers, substations, transformers and building power systems
•Bill of Material and Material Take-off
•Design of power cable sizing, grounding, conduit sizing and cable schedules, cables and conduit penetrations
•Develop and revise one-line diagrams, MCC layouts, and motor schematics, power distribution panels and wiring diagrams
•Design complete Electrical Heat Tracing systems and installations, including power and control wiring, familiar with piping isometric diagrams, PID
•Design to Area Classification per standards and drawings, and prepare Area Classification layouts
•Participate in plant turnarounds and assist with electrical startup
•Conduct In-Plant surveys independently or lead a small team to gather information and documentation
•Develop Electrical Design Scope of Work, Construction Scope of Work, Proposals, Estimates and Electrical Specifications
•Understand expectations of various project phases; Phase 1 thru 5 or FEL-1, 2, & 3
•Responsible for meeting all Client’s drawing and document control requirements
•Maintain and Report to the Project Manager the following: project schedule, weekly progress reports, utilize rules of credit, etc.
•Coordinate work and execution with other project disciplines, such as: control systems, fabrication, field construction, vendors, and sub-contractors
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
The Lead Electrical Designer requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Associate degree in Computer Drafting and Design or Engineering Technology. Equivalent experience will be considered.
•Minimum of 15 years of Electrical design experience, directly related to the Primary Duties and Responsibilities noted above.
•Demonstrated experience in technical execution of projects in the chemical and petrochemical industry.
•Knowledge of quality control of field installations.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proficient in AutoCad and/or Microstation.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).
•Familiar with document Management software or equivalent.
•Proficient with NEC and applicable industry standards.
Working conditions are as follows:
•Position Type: Full Time
•Standard Hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30pm
•Travel: Minimal (up to 25%)
