Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

We are seeking a strategic, enterprise-minded leader to drive the vision, implementation, and continuous improvement of our enterprise data governance and master data management (MDM) program. This role is instrumental in shaping a culture of data trust, stewardship, and compliance across the organization. The Governance Lead will establish policies, standards, and operating models that span the full data lifecycle—from ingestion and transformation to consumption and retention.

In this high-impact role, you will partner across business and technology to integrate governance into all data products and platforms, build scalable stewardship programs, and drive enterprise-wide initiatives to improve data quality, lineage, discoverability, and access. The Governance Lead is the primary owner of our Microsoft Purview environment and serves as the face of governance for internal teams, executives, and external auditors.

Key Accountabilities

Lead the enterprise data governance and MDM strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term data architecture.
Design and implement enterprise-wide governance frameworks, policies, and operating models that drive data quality, classification, privacy, access, and lifecycle compliance.
Own and evolve the metadata and data cataloging strategy, leveraging Microsoft Purview to drive discoverability, stewardship, and lineage tracking.
Establish and chair cross-functional governance councils to align data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, and policy enforcement across departments.
Collaborate closely with Platform and Intelligence Architects to embed governance standards, lineage capture, and data quality checks into core data pipelines and BI assets.
Partner with Legal, Security, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy mandates.
Drive change management initiatives by developing training, onboarding materials, and adoption strategies for both business and technical users.
Monitor and report on governance KPIs and maturity levels, providing visibility and accountability to senior leadership and audit stakeholders.
Stay connected to industry trends and innovations, including emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and best practices in enterprise data governance.
