Job Description Summary
The Controls Platform System Integration Engineer is the primary owner of quality, cost, and capability for the control platforms used for GE wind turbines and wind farms.
The Engineer is responsible for executing multi-disciplinary controls programs, which drive controls technology improvements that lower the cost of renewable energy.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
•Assess renewable energy industry automation needs versus current technology trends and contribute to the development of multi-generation technology and product plans
•Collaborate with the program management and product line teams to develop high level control system requirements and communicate those requirements to the responsible controls engineers
•Participate in a multi-disciplinary development team interfacing to incorporate system requirements in the controller design
•Identify key program risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful product delivery
•Oversee lifecycle cost tradeoffs to ensure control system updates deliver the required capability at a competitive cost
•Provide timely communication on significant technical issues or developments
•Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in Controls Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
•Minimum of 4 years of experience with embedded controls systems and real-time operating systems
Desired Characteristics:
•Strong oral and written communication skills
•Proficiency in control system software requirements definition, requirements flow-down, and design
•Demonstrated ability to lead projects in a global, matrix organization
•Master of Science Degree in Controls Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
•Knowledge of the GE MarkVIe control system
•Experience implementing communication protocols such as PROFINET, MODBUS, EGD, OPC-UA and IEC-61850
•Understanding of data acquisition systems, remote monitoring, and SCADA
•Proficiency relative to safety and security industry standards
•Ability to integrate DFMEA findings into ongoing design improvements and product development processes
•Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate functional and performance requirements
