The Waste Pro Landfill Supervisor will have oversite of landfill assets and ensure that daily site procedures are followed. The Landfill Supervisor will manage the financial performance and productivity of multiple Operating Units. Ensure that Operating Units meet or exceed annual objectives and successfully implement organizational initiatives. Additionally, the Landfill Supervisor is responsible for Onboarding, Developing, Coaching, Mentoring, and Performance Management of staff.
Prefer a minimum of 3 years of experience of Supervisor of a Landfill.
- Manage and supervise landfill staff and evaluate work to ensure quality, timeless, and quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
- Coordinates workflow and assignments toward the achievement of operational goals.
- Coordinates repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
- Institutes and monitors that preventative maintenance is being conducted on all equipment.
- Collects weekly and/or monthly readings and reports. Creates and submits records and reports.
- Oversees personnel needs of the landfill, including coaching, training, and evaluating employee performance.
- Provides input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
- Maintain a safe landfill and safe operating standards.
- Manage landfill in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensure consistent, compliant and profitable operations.
- Monitor productivity and control costs. Perform ongoing oversite of all permitting activities and forecast potential issues during the permitting process.
- Act as the liaison and meet with officials from environmental agencies, state and federal officials regarding landfill operations and permitting activities.
- Train and mentor staff towards proper operations and issues that may arise at the landfill.
- Ensure the cleanliness, aesthetics, and maintenance of the Waste Pro landfill through inspections, training and preventive maintenance programs with Supervisors and employees.
- Attends regularly scheduled Profit and Loss (P&L) reviews and executes prescribed programs on routing equipment utilization, equipment maintenance, and labor and material costs.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED and 5 years of relevant work experience in addition to the education requirement.
- Experience: 3 or more years managing landfills.
- Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills.
- Excellent Attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and set priorities with effective distribution of time and effort.
- Ability to lead and train others.
- Ability to multitask is a fast-paced environment and switch between projects.
- Ability to obtain State Landfill Operator Certification.
- Familiarity with various types of landfill heavy equipment, health, safety, and environmental regulations, and supervisory experience may be required.
- Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record throughout the duration of employment in this position.
- Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
- Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, used by Waste Pro.
- Ability to obtain landfill operators license required by state within the first year of employment.
