Position Summary
The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking to fill the position of Operations and Maintenance Technician 1 for the Lake Conroe Division located in Conroe, TX. The Lake Conroe Division’s primary functions include agricultural, municipal and industrial raw water supply, reservoir operations, water quality and source water protection, invasive species management, navigational safety, and regulations of structures and commercial operations on the reservoir.
The O&M Technician 1 is an entry-level position that performs the following tasks initially under immediate supervision:
•Assists in the safe operations and maintenance of Lake Conroe, the Lake Conroe Dam, and Bear Branch facilities by coordinating with the Operations and Maintenance Manager for daily responsibilities and project goals. Conducts or assists in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and/or control systems, rotating and stationary equipment, heavy civil works, buildings, structures, grounds and/or facilities. Performs all necessary inspections and preventative maintenance according to the Lake Conroe Operations Manual as outlined in the Division’s computerized maintenance system and completes all work orders within the outlined schedule. This position may be required to coordinate with the Division Manager, and the Operations and Maintenance Manager to coordinate releases from the Lake Conroe Dam.
•Assists the Operations and Maintenance Manager with the operations of the Bear Branch facilities and systems. Conducts routine inspections of the dam, performs maintenance of the site as necessary and operates the flow valve in accordance with the Operations and Maintenance manual as outlined in the computerized maintenance program.
•Supports invasive aquatic plant management activities on Lake Conroe and the Bear Branch System in strict compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and in accordance with SJRA policies and procedures. Duties include but, are not limited to, conducting field surveys, making aquatic-herbicide applications, maintenance of the LC aquatic plant nursery, assisting with public education and outreach, and responding to customer complaints and inquiries. Requires close collaboration with TPWD Inland Fisheries and related staff.
•Provides field and administrative support for LC division related activities including but not limited to; water quality sampling, ALERT station maintenance, processing, recording, reporting, and follow-up inspections of all residential and commercial permits and licenses on and adjacent to Lake Conroe in compliance with all SJRA policies and all local, state, and federal regulations.
•Uses the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) to track and record work and properly document, organize, and file correspondence, reports and records related to maintenance activities within the system.
•Responsible for maintenance of the grounds at the Lake Conroe campus and Dam. These duties include, but are not limited to, mowing, weed-eating, herbicide applications, and tree trimming.
•Maintains good house-keeping in the maintenance shop, office, vehicle and grounds; keeps all Personal Protective Equipment in good, clean, working order and expiration dates current.
•Properly stores and cares for all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies.
•Executes assigned duties in a timely manner, including routine and emergency work, to ensure minimal impact to operations.
•Follows safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures. Utilizes all appropriate personal protective equipment.
•Performs other duties deemed appropriate and as assigned by his/her direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Manager, or the General Manager, including duties outside of regular business hours.
•Appropriately and timely responds to and participates in activities associated with emergency operations and non- emergency on-call responsibilities, as requested by management. This may require being available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week during emergency conditions and scheduled week nights and weekends during non-emergency on- call time.
•This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.

Requirements
•High school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of general work experience
•Mechanical aptitude; handy with tools and equipment
•Aquatic Herbicide License or the ability to obtain within 6 month’s of hire.
•Valid Texas Driver’s license with an insurable driving record is required.
•Ability to wear the appropriate water safety equipment such as a life vest due. The ability to swim is strongly preferred.
