Position Summary: Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, metal studs, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenters hand tools and power tools. Assists with all work on a job site such as, but not limited to lifting, carrying, sorting, loading, unloading of material as well as cleaning of job areas. Creates the type of positive work environment that helps maintain a sufficient and qualified work force. Operates under specific supervision. Performs other duties as assigned.
· Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, marker, and marking gauge.
· Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
· Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
· Shape and cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, power tools and power saw.
· Study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
· Assemble and fasten materials to make framework, shafts, props, drill holes or frame box outs, to allow for plumbing and HVAC installations, using hand tools, power tools, power saw, screws, nails, and other material fastening devices.
· Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using hand tools and power tools.
· Install various arrangements of fire stopping systems to wall and floor penetrations.
· Perform minor plumbing, welding, and/or concrete form work, concrete mixing, concrete placement, and concrete finish work.
· Perform repairs to finish surfaces such as woodwork, wall board, cabinets, and various types of wall coverings, filling cracks and other defects, including sanding patching and painting.
Minimum 1-year prior construction or plumbing experience preferred.
· Able to use basic tools (hammer, tape measure, etc.)
· Honest, reliable, dependable and display good character
· Lift items weighing up to 80 lbs.
· Must provide their own basic hand tools.
