Provide product quality control through sampling and analytical testing the various commodities stored at a terminal facility.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Perform control charting and equipment calibration as required.
- Customer reporting including analysis feedback reporting (SAP systems)
- Manage sample retain and retention program.
- Customer Quality Log development, record control and maintenance.
- Generate Certificate of Analysis (COA) documents.
- Research/create testing programs for new products.
- Perform routine cleaning/maintenance/repair on all lab equipment.
- Order lab equipment and supplies as needed.
- Coverage for other terminal lab technicians and personnel as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- GED, high school diploma or college degree will be considered for this position
- 1 to 3 years of terminal experience required and some lab experience preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of work experience in the petrochemical industry or a refinery and one (1) to three (3) years of hands-on field experience sampling storage tanks and testing collected samples with automated lab equipment is required
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization are essential
- At least 1 or more years of experience performing and detailed knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methodology
- High level of concentration and very detail-oriented
- Familiarity with OSHA, DOT, industrial hygiene and other industry regulations a major plus
- Experience with handling hazardous liquid chemicals
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, including Word and Excel
- Must have good customer service skills
- Superior work ethic and dependability
- Excellent mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication, and percentages) are required
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions as outside work is mandatory year round
- Physical requirements include, but may not be limited to, walking up and down stairs/ladders, negotiating uneven surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to wear standard PPE (hard hat, goggles, rain gear, steel toe boots), and qualify to wear a full-face respirator
- Mandatory drug screening in addition to passing a background check necessary for hire
- Perform testing of customer commodities in accordance with approved methods utilizing laboratory testing apparatus or equipment and ASTM standards
- Perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment including prescribed standardization and calibration checks and adjustments
- Determine and monitor line displacements and product cuts to ensure that product integrity is maintained in accordance with regulatory guidelines and product specifications
- Obtain and test tank, line and pipeline samples in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Interact with field operations and control room personnel to report testing results to assure quality control of customer commodities
- Prepare and issue accurate laboratory reports and logs as required by customers and management
- Maintain accurate database records utilizing standard computer software applications
- Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shift and overtime as required, including holidays, nights and weekends
- Shift schedule could change due to work load or more staffing
- Willingness and ability to be on call to cover vacations, sick leave, short or long term, and any emergencies that might arise
- Job requires working at other locations on weekends and night shifts
- Assist outside inspection companies on where to obtain pipeline samples and escort them throughout the facilities
- Assist customer representatives in order to have a double verification to ensure quality of their product
Compensation:
$30-35
Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
