The Lab Technician I supports Cold Bore Technology’s hardware and equipment testing, calibration, and maintenance functions. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all equipment entering and leaving the facility meets Cold Bore’s operational standards. The incumbent will assist in inspection and testing processes, maintain detailed records of maintenance and calibration activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, and field operations teams.
- Clean, inspect, and prepare incoming and outgoing equipment for testing and mobilization.
- Test, calibrate, and maintain equipment to Cold Bore’s quality and safety standards.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of ready-to-deploy equipment for short-notice mobilizations.
- Maintain accurate and meticulous records of materials consumed, test results, and maintenance activities.
- Support equipment failure and incident investigations, identifying root causes and contributing to preventive action plans.
- Collaborate with the Hardware Development Team to provide feedback and recommendations for product and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with HSSE procedures, including proper handling and disposal of lab materials and tools.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance practices, workflows, and technical documentation.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance, calibration, or testing within a laboratory, manufacturing, or oilfield environment.
- Knowledge of electronic systems, sensors, and calibration instruments is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with diagnostic and measurement tools.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and setup.
- Rudimentary radio and wireless system understanding.
- An understanding of preventive maintenance practices and documentation standards.
- Ability to safely handle tools, testing equipment, and materials in a lab setting.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and work safely in an industrial lab environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation and maintenance records.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities; capable of prioritizing multiple tasks under minimal supervision.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical thinking, especially when troubleshooting technical issues.
- Proven teamwork and communication skills, collaborating across departments to meet project timelines.
