We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Oil Trading Operator to join our trading operations team. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the physical oil trading industry. The successful candidate will support the smooth execution of oil trades by coordinating logistics, managing documentation, and assisting traders with operational requirements.
- Assist traders in the end-to-end execution of oil trades, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
- Coordinate with counterparties, brokers, shipping companies, and terminals to manage trade logistics
- Monitor and track vessel movements, cargo operations, and delivery schedules
- Maintain and update operational data and information within the company systems (Bill of Lading dates, weights and other price and payment critical information)
- Ensure all operational activities comply with internal policies, industry regulations, and international trade requirements
- Act as a liaison between traders, counterparties, and service providers to ensure timely and accurate information flow
- Communicate with finance and risk teams to support invoicing, settlements, and credit approvals
- Assist in monitoring operational and contractual risks.
- Support daily reporting on cargo status, inventory, and key operational metrics
- Escalate issues promptly to senior operators or traders
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Logistics, Maritime Studies, or a related field
- Prior internship or experience in commodities, shipping, or logistics is an advantage but not essential
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with trade/ERTM systems is a plus
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment
- Team player with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
