Junior Mining Engineer
Location: Southeast Arizona (Greater Phoenix Area).
Position Summary: Western Explosives Systems Company is looking for a full-time Junior Mining Engineer. The Engineer is accountable for designing conventional blast patterns at surface mining operations in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The engineer will collaborate with customers and contractor stakeholders to meet operational needs for design, data analytics, reporting, technical guidance, and continuous improvement.
Blast Engineer Role and Responsibilities: The Junior Mining Engineer will work under the direction of the Technical Services Manager or designee to complete technical tasks. The position will require you to have excellent communication skills with all stakeholders, including acting as a main point of contact for customers. The position requires a high level of customer service and collaboration with technical and operational teams.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
•Technical blast pattern design and analysis using available 3D modeling software
•Raw data collection and assistance in KPI development/analysis
•Interpretation of blast results using all available information including blast reports, load sheets, design information, as-drilled hole information, excavation data, etc.
•Development and implementation of technical projects for continuous improvement
•Conduct pre-blast surveys e.g. face profiles, borehole deviation measurements, blast geometry measurements, product sampling, safety audits, etc.
•Comply with applicable regulatory health and safety policies and practices to ensure personal safety and the safety of all employees, company assets, environment, and regulatory compliance.
Education and Experience
•0-3 years mining operations or related experience desired
•Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Explosives, or similar Engineering
•FAA part 107 sUAS certification or ability to obtain certification
•Ability to acquire and/or maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by federal, state and county entities
Qualifications:
•Strong commitment to safety
•Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure customer environment
•Working Knowledge of regulatory agency requirements including MSHA and ATF regulations
•Familiarity with computer aided mine/blast design (MineSite 3D, AutoCAD, Carlson, Deswik, or Maptek Vulcan, etc.)
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
•Capable of working autonomously or with team members to complete projects in a professional manner
•Willing to work on cross-rotation assignments aligning with department and customer needs, including on-call assignments for weekend or extended hours
•Must satisfy the requirements for a "Possessor of Explosives" as defined by the Bureau of Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives

Pay: $85,000 - $105,000 Salary will match experience level.
