JOB TITLE: Junior Mechanic/Parts Puller
REPORTS TO: Yard Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-time, Non-Exempt.
LOCATION: U Pull It 49 Hopkins (49 Hopkins Street Buffalo NY, 14220)
HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 4:00 PM, Saturday as needed.
COMPENSATION: $17-21/hr, based on skills and experience.
PURPOSE: The Junior Mechanic/Parts Puller is responsible for removing parts from salvaged vehicles, ensuring that parts are properly identified, organized, and prepared for sale to customers. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Removing parts from vehicles to be sold to customers.
•Clean and prepare the job site and yard in a tidy and safe manner.
•Prepare vehicles for dismantling, remove fluids such as gas or oil from vehicles, disconnect battery, airbags, and any other electrical component
•Remove tires from vehicles.
•Use a variety of hand and power tools to remove usable parts and components, such as engines, transmissions, wheels, tires & interior parts.
•Reduce waste by identifying useable and non-usable parts
•Maintain inventory and records.
•Inspect parts for quality and defects.
•Adhere to safety regulations, environmental regulations, and company policies while performing duties.
•Ensuring all equipment is properly inspected and following proper lifting and handling techniques to prevent injury.
•Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Reports any issues to their manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•High School degree or equivalent preferred.
•Being able to operate bobcats, forklifts, and loaders is a plus.
•1-year automotive mechanic experience preferred
•Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
•Quick learner who can follow directions.
•Good communication skills.
•Organized, consistent, and good at multitasking.
•Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to work.

•Must be able to remain in and operate equipment in a shop or dismantling area.
•Work in an area equipped with drain tables, forklifts, chain hoists, and other tools as needed.
•Move about a salvage yard.
•Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate basic hand and power tools.
•Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
•Expected work hours are based on role and location
•Ability to work occasional overtime as needed as determined by the employee's supervisor.
