This structured rotational program offers exposure to key business areas, providing a well-rounded understanding of Tenaska’s business and operations.

Throughout the program, participants will be mentored by experienced professionals, gaining technical skills, expanding their industry knowledge, and developing valuable insights into the energy market. Junior Associates will play an active role in supporting internal and external stakeholders while making meaningful contributions in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.

Junior Associates will be expected to meet measurable objectives during each rotation, demonstrating continued growth and a strong foundation in key business functions. The ultimate goal of the program is to prepare participants for seamless transition into a full-time role within the organization by the completion of the program.

Onsite in Omaha, NE.

Program Start Date:

July 1st, 2026

Program Structure

: The program consists of five rotations, each lasting a minimum of six months, across key departments within the organization.

Program Duration:

Participants will remain in the program for a minimum of 18 months, with the goal of transitioning into a full-time role within an internal department by the fourth year of the program.

Essential Job Functions

As part of this rotational program, Junior Associates will engage in a variety of hands-on learning experiences designed to build foundational knowledge of Tenaska’s business model, risk management practices, and core values. Participants will complete structured onboarding, including training in key systems, compliance protocols, and internal policies, while developing proficiency in essential tools. Throughout the program, they will build relationships across departments, analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to support decision-making, and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Junior Associates are expected to communicate clearly and professionally with cross-functional teams and contribute meaningfully to team discussions. At the conclusion of each rotation, participants will present a summary of their key takeaways, challenges, and recommendations. The following departmental rotations outline the specific learning objectives for each area.

Deal Capture

- Develop a strong understanding of all deal types (physical and financial), including their associated benchmarks, and how they flow through internal systems and across departments

- Analyze and identify risk exposures, assess their impact on current positions, and recommend or implement appropriate hedging strategies

- Prepare and reconcile daily risk reports; troubleshoot discrepancies and escalate issues when necessary

- Own all operational aspects of a trading region, including deal linking and review, coordination of complex and AMA structure deals, and support for traders and leadership


Market Risk

- Develop a strong understanding of valuation processes and mark-to-market principles, including key inputs, outputs, and portfolio differences such as fixed vs. floating, hedged vs. unhedged, and intrinsic vs. extrinsic value

- Interpret and analyze key financial reports—such as daily profit and loss (P&L) statements and margin reports—by processing, identifying, and troubleshooting discrepancies or variances

- Understand market data sources, system integrations, and available tools to effectively execute and troubleshoot daily data and reporting processes

- Analyze deal exposures, from basic to complex, with a focus on open positions and their potential mark-to-market impact across various portfolio structures


Gas Scheduling

- Develop comprehensive knowledge of gas scheduling processes, including managing multiple pipeline operations with guidance from experienced team members

- Recognize and adhere to the critical importance of accuracy, meeting deadlines, and managing financial risk associated with scheduling activities

- Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationship between scheduling, trading, accounting, and deal capture functions to ensure seamless operational flow


Credit

- Evaluate creditworthiness by analyzing financial statements, credit ratings, and risk metrics while understanding internal financial and company structures to address customer inquiries effectively

- Understand and manage the confidentiality agreement process and accurately prepare daily working capital reports in line with organizational standards

- Process and communicate daily margin calls, prepayment invoices, and collateral requests to ensure compliance with contractual requirements

- Develop a thorough understanding of the guaranty process, including terminology and handling of both incoming and outgoing parent guaranties


Accounting

- Build a foundational understanding of allocation methodologies and the month-end volume reconciliation process

- Develop knowledge of the full invoicing and settlement lifecycle, including how transactional data and nominations flow into accounting

- Review and analyze transportation invoices to identify and resolve discrepancies, with an understanding of their connection to deal entry

- Gain familiarity with the actualization process, including final volume confirmations and reconciliation procedures


Basic Requirements

- Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field

- Passion for building a long-term career in natural gas marketing and the energy industry

- Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn

- Reliable, dependable, and predictable attendance


Preferred Requirements

- One year of customer service skills preferred

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel

- Familiarity with how energy, commodities, or financial markets function is a plus

- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team in a dynamic environment

- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing directions and priorities

- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

- Strong work ethic combined with a collaborative, team-focused mindset

- High personal standards for performance and integrity

- Travel: 0-10%
