We’re looking for a safety-minded Journeyman Trailer/Truck Mechanic to keep our fleet reliable and road ready. You’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain trailers and trucks to meet regulatory and company standards. Tools are supplied and if you’re a journeyman who prefers your own tool set, that’s great too. You may be required to perform road service in a company service truck to remote areas of Alberta.
- Inspect trailers and trucks for damage, wear, and compliance issues.
- Perform routine maintenance (brake adjustments, tire changes, lubrication, torque checks).
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults (ABS, lighting, wiring, air systems).
- Read and apply schematics to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Safely operate hand and power tools; complete welding/cutting as qualified.
- Conduct repairs on related industrial/heavy equipment as required.
- Perform road service calls in a service truck, including remote Alberta locations, as needed.
- Maintain accurate digital/paper records of work performed, parts used, and inspections.
- Keep a clean, organized, and safe work area; follow all safety procedures.
- Required: Journeyman-level certification in Heavy Equipment Technician / Truck & Trailer. (or equivalent).
- Licensing: Class 1 preferred; at minimum, Class 5 license with a clean driver’s abstract is required.
- Solid experience in trailer maintenance/repair (air brakes, hubs, suspensions, electrical).
- Ability to work with trailer electrical systems (12V/ABS) and read wiring diagrams.
- Competent with mechanical diagnostics and automotive repair techniques.
- Forklift proficiency (certification an asset).
- Strong customer service mindset when working with internal teams and vendors.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced shop.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and industrial equipment maintenance.
- Welding/fabrication skills.
- CVIP/commercial inspection exposure (if applicable).
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software.
- Competitive pay based on experience & certification.
- Company-supplied tools available; journeymen may use their own tools if preferred.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, with a rotating on-call weekend schedule for emergency repairs/road service.
