We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber with a strong background in underground construction to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing underground piping systems for commercial, industrial, and civil construction projects. The Journeyman Plumber will work closely with site supervisors, equipment operators, and construction crews to ensure all plumbing installations meet project specifications, safety regulations, and code compliance.
- Install, assemble, and repair underground plumbing systems including water, sewer, storm drainage, and utility piping.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and project specifications to determine layout, materials, and installation procedures.
- Perform layout and grade checks for underground piping systems to ensure proper alignment and elevation.
- Operate and work alongside excavation crews to install piping systems safely and efficiently.
- Inspect and test completed installations to verify compliance with codes and quality standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot plumbing issues, making necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and materials in good working condition.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA, local, and state plumbing codes.
- Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and inspectors to coordinate workflow.
- Mentor apprentices and assist in training less experienced plumbers.
- Valid Journeyman Plumber License (state-specific).
- 4+ years of plumbing experience, with at least 2 years in underground or heavy construction preferred.- Strong knowledge of underground utility systems, plumbing codes, and industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, and related equipment.
- Familiarity with trenching, shoring, and excavation safety practices.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift 50+ lbs, and perform manual labor.- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various job sites.
