Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to help our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly in cost management and financial reporting. This role involves preparing financial reports, analyzing costs, and ensuring compliance with GAAP standards. The Cost Accountant will play a crucial role in budgeting, forecasting, and providing insights into financial performance. We are a construction company with a number of growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and analyze cost reports to identify trends and variances

- Conduct cash flow analysis to support financial planning

- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions

- Perform account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation

- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks.

- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and GAAP standards

- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to support corporate accounting strategies

- Interpret financial reports and provide insights for decision-making

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance cost management initiatives

- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions using double-entry bookkeeping principles

Experience

- Proven experience in cost accounting or a related field, preferably within public accounting

- Strong knowledge of financial concepts including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial analysis

- Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero) and ERP systems

- Familiarity with technical accounting principles and practices

- Excellent skills in data collection, account analysis, and general ledger accounting

- Ability to interpret complex financial reports and communicate findings effectively

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
