Network Engineer is expected to design, implement, and maintain our organization's network infrastructure. This role involves configuring and supporting a variety of network hardware and software, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of LAN/WAN/WLAN environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of network protocols, architectures, and tools, with hands-on experience in Cisco, Aruba, Palo Alto, and unified communications technologies. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting network issues, enforcing security policies, conducting capacity planning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business operations and drive technological innovation. A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and under pressure are essential for success in this role.
- Implement and support network architecture based on organizational needs.
- Configure network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers).
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and procedures.
- Monitor network performance, system availability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime.
- Perform regular network maintenance, including patches, upgrades, and security configurations.
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect data and communications.
- Enforce network security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Provide technical support and training to users and other IT staff.
- Liaise with vendors and external partners for problem resolution and equipment procurement.
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve network performance and security.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Broad range of network knowledge in the following: Aruba SDWAN, Cisco Switching & Routing, Palo Alto firewall, Unified Communications, Unity unified messaging, MeetingPlace, Call Manager, Cisco and Aruba access points, DMVPN, Satellite communications, Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor.
- Technical knowledge and aptitude w/ networks, network topologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of network provider services and understanding of routing protocol options and LAN/WAN principles.
- Thorough understanding of distributed systems architecture and comprehensive knowledge of multiple technical disciplines.
- Ability to solve network server problems or network infrastructure issues and to manage performance and capacity of a WLAN/LAN/WAN environment.
- Understanding of the enterprise business and process; business unit functions and cross group dependencies relationships
- Ability to conduct and prepare feasibility studies, develop client proposals; including estimates for costs, time and resources, prepare statistical reports, and complete cost/benefit analysis.
- Able to demonstrate experience in developing efficient and effective standard solutions to meet business requirements.
- Must demonstrate ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
