IT Area Lead, Lake Charles Refinery

The Lake Charles IT Area Lead is accountable for the overall relationship management and delivery of IT services (including applications and infrastructure) to the Refinery, Midstream, and Lubricants business units served by the local end user support team based out of the Lake Charles Refinery. This role will supervise the local IT support staff and provide work direction to IT support contractors. This position will report to the Digital IT Field Operations Director for the West & East Region, with functional reporting to the Lake Charles Technical Services Manager. The position is located at our Lake Charles Refinery in Westlake, Louisiana.

Responsibilities May Include:

Acting as a full business partner with the business unit leadership teams.

Driving digital literacy throughout the business.

Functioning as a supervisor for the area infrastructure, end user support team, and digital area coordinator.

Functioning as a single point of contact for all IT areas, including Enterprise Applications such as SAP, for supported business units.

Contributing as necessary to IT budget development, delivery, and reporting for the business.

Representing and advocating the business unit’s interests and initiatives to IT.

Representing and advocating for IT interests and initiatives to the business unit.

Seeking innovative ways to improve the value of IT to the business.

Seeking, recommending, and delivering cost-effective value-add opportunities.

Utilizing leveraged IT services to meet customer needs.

Ensuring IT initiatives are clearly connected to business results.

Developing business requirements and technical specifications for systems supporting business processes.

The understanding and management of Information Security risks.

Effective contract and vendor services management.

Required Qualifications:

Legally authorized to work in the United State

High School diploma/GED

5 or more years of experience in the information technology field

5 or more years of experience supporting IT systems

Supervisory skills or experience running large projects

Valid in-state driver’s license or be able to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent

3 or more years of experience implementing digital solutions

Knowledge of how refining and midstream business units operate

Proven ability to identify and drive business value for IT solutions

Strong leadership and management skills

Good written and verbal communication skills

Able to influence individuals and groups

Able to effectively interface with the refinery leadership team

Create an environment of inclusiveness and foster communication

Engender trust and confidence

Enable productive local teams with strong partnerships across organizational boundaries

The Lake Charles Refinery is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed in the southeastern and eastern United States by truck, rail car, barge or pipelines and exported to Latin America and West Africa.
