REPORTS TO:Manager of IT Architecture and Data Governance
The Information Technology Architect is responsible for shaping and maintaining the comprehensive design for hardware, software, data, and cloud architecture within Versant Power. This position plays a vital role in designing and implementing IT systems that align with business objectives, balancing on-premises and cloud resources, and ensuring robust solution architectures across the enterprise.
Responsibilities span the full system development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, interface design, data modeling, solution architecture, security, and documentation (as-built, interface, disaster recovery, and training materials). The IT Architect requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and leadership abilities which are crucial in guiding the technological direction of Versant Power.
- Develop and execute a strategic IT roadmap in alignment with company goals.
- Make recommendations for IT/OT solutions, including cost optimization and alignment with the 5-year Technology Roadmap.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, including cloud platforms and analytics capabilities, for business value.
- Design scalable, robust, and secure solution architectures that integrate applications, infrastructure, data, and security.
- Develop end-to-end solution blueprints that ensure interoperability between systems such as CIS, GIS, and financial applications.
- Define and enforce architectural standards and governance, including APIs, middleware, and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with Data Governance teams to define data models, master data management strategies, and metadata standards.
- Ensure system and data architectures support business intelligence, reporting, and advanced analytics.
- Partner with business stakeholders to define analytics and reporting requirements.
- Guide cloud adoption strategies, designing hybrid and cloud-native solutions leveraging Azure, AWS, or Oracle Cloud.
- Define governance models for cloud resources, including cost management, security, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure optimization and capacity plans in partnership with infrastructure teams and vendors.
- Collaborate with business units to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Provide architectural oversight and validation during project execution.
- Communicate effectively across business and technical teams, acting as a liaison for complex solutions.
- Ensure adherence to IT standards, security frameworks, and regulatory requirements (NERC CIP, PCI, etc.).
- Assist in developing IT security infrastructure and policy.
- Design and maintain disaster recovery strategies.
- Provide subject matter expertise for systems, interfaces, and infrastructure.
- Assist with the on-going support of Systems, Interfaces and Infrastructure as part of wider responsibilities within the Information Systems Department.
- Participate in after-hours call out for application support as required.
- Participate actively with related user groups.
- Other related duties as assigned including designated duties associated with Storm Restoration.
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent, or 4–6 years of experience in client-focused IT support.
- Training in strategic planning and systems design.
- Understanding of programming languages and database technologies.
- Experience with enterprise applications (CIS, GIS, Financials), UNIX and Windows platforms.
- Knowledge of networking, Active Directory, VoIP, and IT security best practices.
- Foundational understanding of cloud computing and analytics.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent, with 4–6 years of IT experience.
- Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering and systems design.
- Proficiency with databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and cloud platforms.
- Experience supporting data integration and analytics initiatives.
- Proven experience designing and documenting interfaces and solution architecture.- BS in Computer Science or equivalent, with 10+ years in senior IT support/architecture.
- Proven experience developing strategic plans and leading enterprise architecture initiatives.
- Expertise in solution, data, and cloud architecture, including hybrid deployments.
- Strong knowledge of programming, databases, data governance, and analytics platforms.
- Demonstrated leadership in project management and team collaboration.
- Position is primarily sedentary, with some walking and standing required
- Position requires mental and visual concentration.
- Position requires excellent organizational skills.
- Position may require extra hours.

Full Time: 40 hours per week. Extra hours may be required.
