Job Description
The Stores Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Stores Department to ensure efficient material handling, accurate inventory control, and seamless support for site operations. This role leads a team of 3 storekeepers across two shifts and plays a key role in maintaining stock integrity, coordinating vendor relations, and supporting procurement activities. A solid understanding of mechanical parts related to heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers is essential to effectively support maintenance and operational needs.
What you're responsible for:•Supervising daily operations of the Stores Department across two shifts, ensuring adequate coverage and workflow efficiency
•Providing direct leadership and guidance to a team of storekeepers
•Monitoring and managing inventory levels using Maximo ERP system to maintain accurate records and prevent stockouts
•Generating and analyzing monthly inventory reports to support forecasting and replenishment planning
•Managing annual inventory count process; Organizing and participating in periodic cycle counts and year end inventory audit
•Executing reorders for consumables, spare parts, and critical components based on usage and lead times
•Maintaining working knowledge of mechanical components and systems commonly used in heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers to assist in accurate part identification and substitutions
•Collaborating with the Procurement team to maintain vendor relationships, source product alternatives, and resolve supply issues
•Working closely with accounting to investigate and correct inventory-related invoicing discrepancies and provide approval of freight invoices associated with inventory purchases
•Collaborating with the inventory management team in Montreal
•Overseeing all inbound and outbound shipping and receiving activities to ensure proper documentation and timely processing
•Ensuring the department remains clean, well-organized, and compliant with workplace safety standards
•Promoting and enforcing safe working practices and procedures within the Stores team
Qualifications
To join our team:
•You have 3+ years of experience in inventory management, warehousing, or supply chain operations; supervisory experience preferred
•You are familiar with mechanical parts and systems for heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers.
•You are proficiency with ERP systems (Maximo strongly preferred)
•You have a strong understanding of inventory control principles and procurement processes.
•You have experience with shipping/receiving and vendor coordination
•You have effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
•You can work independently and manage shifting priorities across multiple tasks
•You have a valid G drivers license and willingness to travel
•You have previous experience operating a forklift is (preferred)
