We are currently seeking a proficient Inventory Control Specialist to oversee and manage our inventory operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, optimizing inventory processes, and ensuring efficient utilization of resources. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This position works in a team environment at our home office in Newburgh, IN. This is not a remote position.
This position reports to the Procurement Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Conduct regular audits of inventory levels to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures and standards.
•Regularly update and maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including quantities, locations, and movements within the organization's systems or software.
•Reconcile physical inventory counts with system records to identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies.
•Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, assembly, and other departments to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts or overstock situations, ensure timely availability of products or materials, and devise and execute plans to control and liquidate excess and obsolete inventory.
•Implement and maintain inventory management systems, procedures, and controls to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
•Analyze inventory data and metrics to track performance indicators such as turnover rates, stock aging, and shrinkage, and identify areas for improvement.
•Collaborate with other departments to assist with the forecast inventory needs based on demand forecasts, sales trends, and production schedules, and planning procurement activities accordingly.
•Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies or issues, such as stock outs, overages, or damage, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•Identify opportunities to streamline inventory processes, improve workflow efficiency, and reduce costs through the implementation of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
•Train and educate staff on proper inventory management procedures and protocols.
•Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and vendors to coordinate inventory-related activities, address issues or concerns, and facilitate smooth operations.
•Generate and maintain documentation, reports, and documentation related to inventory activities, transactions, and performance metrics for analysis and decision-making purposes.
•Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and technologies related to inventory management.
•Perform other supply chain-related tasks and responsibilities as delegated.
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
•Proven experience in inventory control, warehouse management, or related roles.
•Strong proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
•Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Working Conditions
•This position will work in a climate-controlled environment. There may be exposure to fork trucks and other types of machinery within the environment. Some work will be office related, while other work will be completed within the warehouse and assembly locations.
