The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory-related activities across both manufacturing and warehousing operations. This role ensures accurate inventory records, effective materials management, and efficient flow of goods to support production schedules and customer requirements. The Inventory Control Manager will lead cross-functional collaboration between manufacturing, warehouse, procurement, and planning teams to optimize inventory accuracy, reduce costs, and support operational excellence.
A successful candidate must be able to:
- Develop, implement, and maintain inventory control policies, procedures, and best practices across manufacturing and warehousing.
- Oversee cycle counting, physical inventory audits, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Ensure accurate tracking of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory.
- Collaborate with Production, Procurement, and Planning to align material availability with production demand and customer orders.
- Optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and material handling processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor and report key metrics (inventory accuracy, turns, shrinkage, obsolete/slow-moving stock).
- Manage inventory-related ERP/MRP system functions and ensure data integrity.
- Partner with Finance to support inventory valuation, month-end close, and compliance requirements.
- Lead, train, and develop warehouse and inventory team members to ensure consistent process execution.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in inventory management, including lean principles, 5S, and automation opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop teams.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Lean manufacturing or APICS/CPIM certification preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in inventory management, materials management, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment. - Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory control methodologies.- This position may require the ability to perform tasks that involve sitting, standing, walking, lifting 50+ lbs, bending, stooping, computer work, and other physical activities.
