Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
The intern will provide analytical support to the Market Risk Analysis group. Specifically, this individual will run analytical tools and reports to create and distribute market risk information to various users within Calpine, including members of the front office, senior management, accounting, among others.
- Daily Market to Market (MTM) and P&L estimates
- Daily position reporting by commodity, location, portfolio, and time period
- Current month performance information
- Work with IT organization to improve the underlying risk system infrastructure
- Candidate should be working on a Bachelor’s Degree in a financial or quantitative discipline. Candidate must be a student during duration of internship.
- Knowledge base should cover a significant subset of the following topics:
- Demonstrated understanding Microsoft Office products (SQL Server Enterprise Manager, VBA, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Knowledge of the energy industry, specifically the independent power or utility sector, is a plus.
- Knowledge of financial derivatives is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player who is used to diving into issues, brainstorming solutions, and learning new methods and tools to address; results oriented.
