We are looking for an Internal Auditor to join us in the exciting work we do in the Internal Audit Department. It'll be your responsibility to execute internal audit engagements while developing and modifying audit programs in consultation with the engagement Lead Auditor.
What You Get to Do:
•Assist in planning finance and compliance related audits to assess the adequacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of internal controls, compliance with corporate policies and procedures, established frameworks, and/or regulatory requirements
•Contribute to the performance of the execution phase of audit and advisory engagements by performing defined audit procedures in a timely manner and to the required level of quality in accordance with the Global Internal Audit Standards and ATCO Internal Audit quality assurance framework
•Conduct interviews or workshops to document process flows or any other document necessary to gain an understanding of the process, its risks and controls
•Assist with management of external consulting resources on select engagements to carry out activities and meet objectives
•Identify and document audit issues and recommendations and assist in the preparation of internal audit reports
•Conduct follow-up, testing, and reporting of management action plans (remediation actions) to support continuous improvement and to address audit observations
•Support internal audit related initiatives, such as, development of policies and procedures, monitoring of key performance metrics, quality assurance and continuous improvement programs, and lessons learned activities
•Support administrative tasks within the team, such as, updating the weekly time tracker, updating departmental templates, audit manuals, etc.
•Assist in maintaining ATCO’s internal audit universe and annual risk assessment processes
•Foster business stakeholder relationships and stay up to date on organizational changes to assess emerging risks to inform ATCO’s annual audit plan
Who You Are:
•Minimum 3-5 years of internal audit and/or compliance experience in public practice and/or industry
•Minimum Formal Education - Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or Business Administration
•Working knowledge or awareness of the Institute of Internal Auditors Global Internal Audit Standards
•Proficient written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate identified problems and facilitate problem resolution.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and anomalies and promptly reporting these to management.
•Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships easily and effectively across a broad range of internal and external parties
•Self-starter who can work individually or within a team and eager to contribute to the overall success of the Internal Audit function
•High level of ethics and integrity
•Results oriented and deadline driven
•Professional designation such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Accountant (CA), or Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is preferred
