Plan and supervise document control, field survey teams and other Construction Engineers.
Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science or related field.
Internship classification normally requires completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies from an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Construction Science or related field. Preferred experience in petrochemical, power generation or heavy industrial technology. Advanced understanding of construction drawings and specifications. Ability to coordinate and supervise a technical staff.
- Coordinate assigned work with client, engineering disciplines, construction disciplines, and other contractors.
- Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating, planning and scheduling to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, cost and schedule.
- Assist in resolving construction problems as required.
- Coordinate and resolve all requests for information (RFI).
- Initiate and coordinate all field change orders (FCO)
- Investigate and document all vendor back charge issues. Ensure the correct distribution is employed to facilitate the collection of back charges.
- Maintain a control set of drawings, specifications and master stick files.
- Supervise the distribution of drawings, specifications and the maintenance of revision control.
- Supervise survey activities.
- Ability to provide direction for hydrostatic testing programs and system turnover.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
This role will collaborate within a multi-discipline team in an effort to fully develop, deliver and complete a successful project. As part of this collaborative effort, this role requires the presence of the individual working within a group setting, with regular interaction during meetings and one-on-one, face-to-face discussions with other individuals on the team on a daily basis.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering design drawings, technical procedures and specifications, government regulations, business correspondence and manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedures. Ability to effectively, verbally communicate directions to others and respond to questions from clients, managers and all levels of construction personnel. Proficient with computer and Microsoft software.
Working knowledge of algebra, trigonometry and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Proficient with coordinates and elevation calculations.
Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance. Vision must be clear at close and distance with depth perception and ability to focus.
Normal work environment will be a construction site within operating plants. This will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and work near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals, and airborne particles.
