As an I&E Technician within the Operations Team in California, you will play a crucial role in operating pipelines and associated facilities. Your responsibilities include ensuring the controlled delivery of crude oil and adhering to company procedures and safety requirements to safeguard the pipeline, environment, and personnel. Additionally, you may be called upon to undertake tasks beyond your typical I&E Technician role to support the Operations Group.
- Conduct daily troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical equipment within your area of responsibility.
- Be prepared for travel outside your normal area as required by business needs, supporting operations, or projects.
- Perform regulatory inspections, calibrate and repair as needed, ensuring timely completion of all required documentation and inspections.
- Assist and participate in project design, construction, and modification of existing facilities based on business needs.
- Install and maintain equipment associated with crude oil pump stations, storage facilities, and measurement systems, including but not limited to:
- Allen Bradley – Control Logix, SLC500, RSView, Factory Talk View, Studio 5000
- Motor Contactors 480, 2400 & 4160 Vac
- Communication equipment – including Ethernet, 900 MHz based radio, VSAT, Cellular Communications
- Access and analyze data on the control center SCADA system to resolve operational field issues.
- Supervise Electrical/Automation Contractors on small projects and/or operations maintenance jobs.
- Ensure completion of all required documentation for automation-related work activities.
- Compile reports and notifications as directed by the supervisor.
- Read and update electrical drawings, Single lines, Area classifications, P&IDs, and P&CD as required.
- Successful completion of Haz-Mat training, safety awareness training, and any other related required training and certifications.
- Minimum 5- 6 years of experience in the Electrical/Automation field.
- Previous experience in the oil and gas industry and knowledge of pipeline operating and regulatory requirements.
- General pipeline knowledge and working experience with medium voltage equipment up through 4,160 Vac.
- Familiarity with basic NEC code requirements and specs associated with pipeline operations as well as all applicable governmental regulations.
- Familiarity with the use of Basic Hand tools and Electrical test equipment such as Multimeters, Meggers Amp Probes, Oscilloscope, etc.
- Good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interface with individuals inside and outside the company.
- Must work effectively as a team member.
- Demonstrate an aptitude in PLC Programming & Electrical Troubleshooting.
- Must successfully pass Drug and Alcohol pre-employment and ongoing screening.
- Willing to take callouts after hours & weekends.
- Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work on uneven surfaces, stoop, kneel, bend, climb, and walk in all types of terrain.
- Works outdoors in an open environment with extremes of heat and cold.
Hourly Compensation: $42.00 - $63.46 per hour. Reflective of individual experience levels. Note: Hourly rates are based on experience.
