The Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer is responsible for providing subject matter expertise in standardizing engineering design execution on projects. This role focuses on governance related to Instrumentation and Control Systems, supporting general engineering processes and initiatives. The engineer will represent the Engineering Management Office (EMO) at various business initiatives, facilitate training sessions, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor peers. The position emphasizes standardization and harmonization of project execution during the engineering phase across all business units in North America.
- Establish governance for engineering execution of projects across all business units and regions (US and Canada).
- Develop and maintain engineering governance documents to harmonize project execution, including procedures, standards, guides, and templates.
- Streamline engineering execution workflows, optimize processes, and ensure consistency in governance documents.
- Represent engineering at workshops and stakeholder reviews to improve process workflows related to project execution governance.
- Facilitate training and awareness sessions for new and updated engineering governance documents.
- Lead stakeholder review meetings, drive discussions, and make decisions on stakeholder comments.
- Possess strong knowledge of engineering deliverables and interfaces with procurement, contracts, project management, quality, construction, and commissioning.
- Assist with asset management, including development and maintenance of asset classes and types, and support the project item master library.
- Develop instrumentation specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and procure materials and equipment.
- Specify and select control systems and network communication equipment.
- Design and conduct hardware acceptance testing of control panels, software FATs, and provide commissioning support for control systems.
- Assist with sustainment activities related to cloud-based project data management repository.
- Review proposed deviations and change requests to engineering governance documents.
- Conduct peer reviews on key engineering deliverables and participate in project health checks and stage gate reviews.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including project execution teams from different business units.
- Work independently, take ownership of tasks, and mentor peers.
- Communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff effectively.
- Manage time efficiently and document processes thoroughly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Process Control Systems, Electrical, or related field).
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Experience with renewable energy projects is an asset.
- Electrical-Instrumentation-Control Systems (EIC) engineering interface experience is an asset.
- Asset management experience is an asset.
- Ability to develop collaborative working relationships with other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other office computer applications.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively, multitask, and work under tight deadlines.Please note: Successful applicants will be employees of Raise, working at Enbridge facilities with both Enbridge and contract employees.
