Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Spray Painter with experience in sheet metal fabrication and light body work to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, finishing, and painting sheet metal parts, assemblies, and fabricated products to meet quality and customer specifications. This role also requires performing minor body work, including surface preparation, sanding, filling, and repair of imperfections to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Prepare sheet metal parts and fabricated assemblies for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying body filler as needed.
- Perform light body work such as dent repair, grinding, smoothing, and surface finishing to ensure parts are ready for coating.
- Mix, match, and apply paints, primers, and coatings using spray painting equipment according to specifications.
- Ensure proper adhesion, coverage, and finish quality while maintaining consistency across all painted parts.
- Inspect completed work for defects, touch up as needed, and ensure products meet internal standards and customer requirements.
- Safely operate spray guns, paint booths, sanding tools, grinders, and related finishing equipment.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Follow company safety policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper ventilation, and handling of paints and solvents.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts related to paint processes and quality control.
- Collaborate with other team members, including welders, fabricators, and assemblers, to ensure efficient workflow.
- Proven experience as an industrial spray painter, automotive painter, or in a related sheet metal/body work environment.
- Ability to perform light body work including sanding, filling, grinding, and dent repair.
- Knowledge of paint types, coatings, mixing ratios, and spray application techniques.
- Familiarity with paint booth operation and safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, and specifications.
- Good time management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines.
- Physical ability to lift and move sheet metal parts, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a sheet metal fabrication or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of powder coating or additional finishing methods a plus.
- Forklift or material handling experience helpful.
Work Environment:
This position works in a fast-paced sheet metal fabrication facility with exposure to paint fumes, dust, noise, and moving equipment. Proper PPE is provided and required.
