Overview
The Maintenance Technician I is a position responsible for performing industrial maintenance and repair tasks to support the efficient operation of equipment and facilities. This role involves working under close supervision to learn and apply fundamental maintenance skills.
· Routine Maintenance: Ability to perform basic inspections and preventative maintenance with training and assist with more complex systems.
· Basic Repairs: Conduct basic repairs on mechanical and electrical components, following detailed instructions and safety protocols.
· Tool Management: Organize and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any issues to supervisors.
· Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent accidents.
· Duties are often performed in a high-heat environment. Outside temperatures can compound the already high heat environment which can result in heavy perspiration and need for frequent hydration.
· The manufacturing environment has higher levels of air particulate matter than outdoor or office settings. Proper PPE (such as safety glasses) should be always worn.
· All materials on the shop floor should always be considered either hot or sharp or both, proper PPE (such as gloves and sleeves) should be worn while handling materials.
· Equipment operation creates sustained, high decibel noise. Proper PPE (such as hearing protection) should always be worn.
· Duties often require long periods of standing and the ability to lift materials repetitively.
· Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
· Ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.
· Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
· Knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools.
· Ability to work independently and in team environments.
