Incumbents in this position are responsible for electrical and mechanical operations and repairs of treatment facilities, ground water wells, water towers and CFPUA buildings. This position is assigned to pay grade G15.
- Troubleshoots and repairs treatment plant equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, conducts safety inspections, maintains lubricant and fluid levels, and cleans work areas.
- Performs as assigned troubleshooting, repairs, modification, and calibration of instrumentation, SCADA control, and electrical systems throughout the Water and Wastewater Treatment facilities.
- Identifies and corrects work hazards while ensuring compliance with established safety policies.
- Maintains all electrical systems, including generators, for the treatment facilities.
- Ensures safe and proper operation of the treatment facility.
- Tests and maintains well site chlorine monitors and alarms.
- Performs maintenance and repair of facility's utility and emergency power distribution.
- Replaces lighting, switches, receptacles, ceiling tiles, and repairs plumbing.
- Remains on call/standby for emergencies.
- Checks Maximo (work order program) and prioritizes work orders.
- Maintains plant buildings and grounds.
- Purchases materials and equipment necessary for maintenance projects.
- Performs inventory/property management.
- Performs other related job duties as assigned.
In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six (6) months of work experience in a role with electrical experience or any related work field.
- NC license for water, wastewater treatment, or distribution preferred.
- Electrical license preferred.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of North Carolina driver's license.
- This position will be placed on an On-Call rotation that requires a response within 30 minutes of notification.
