Maintains all plant IC&E equipment to assure optimal production.
Maintains all plant Instrumentation and Electrical test equipment.
Protects and enhances value of facility.
Assists in the selection, evaluating, training and development of IC&E technicians.
Develops training program and proficiency program for the IC&E technicians and plant wide
IC&E training.
Plans, coordinates and executes IC&E related preventative, scheduled and forced outages activities to assure minimum down time and optimal plant operation.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions; make recommendations for repair, and oversee as necessary.
Oversees the operation and maintenance of the air emissions monitoring equipment (CEMS).
Oversees the operation and maintenance of performance monitoring system.
Coordinates activities and interfaces with contractor and vendor representatives and personnel.
Maintains various databases and effectively uses standard software packages.
Assists in maintaining and controlling spare parts inventory.
Maintains a clean and safe shop and plant environment.
Completes and properly documents problems, repairs, and downtime.
Updates drawings and prints as required.
Generates requisitions/work orders, and tracks parts and materials needed to complete tasks.
Designs and installs new equipment and/or system modifications.
Assists in the development and implementation of the budget for assigned systems.
Performs other duties as required by plant conditions.
Effectively communicates plant status to plant management as required.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The primary role of the IC&E Tech is to provide daily leadership to the Maintenance department towards the objectives of safe, efficient and profitable operation of the facility. Assists in developing and administering departmental budgets and capital projects. Assist in the professional development and growth of personnel assigned to the Maintenance department. Leads by example and provides a role model for the high standards of professional conduct. Responsible for maintaining all plant IC&E equipment that includes instrumentation, controls, computer, and electrical equipment. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of air emissions monitoring and reporting. Responsible for the coordination of tasks with Operations and Maintenance departments. Plans, coordinates and executes IC&E outage activities. Establishes and maintains preventive maintenance activities of IC&E equipment and systems.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The IC&E Tech reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, works in cooperation with the Operations department on matters pertaining to the daily operation of the plant and responds to direction from the O&M Manager in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include: working on feet for up to 12 hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 75 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required.
Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics (high school diploma or equivalent preferred) or ability to successfully pass a standardized test demonstrating IC&E qualifications, with two (2) years of industry/military experience including completion of apprenticeship (or equivalent).
Ability to pass the respirator fit test and to use respiratory protective equipment or self-contained breathing apparatus at any time.
Working knowledge of computers.
Working knowledge of IC&E systems and equipment.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of: Power Plant IC&E systems and equipment, electrical principles, electrical safety, electrical test equipment, tuning and modifications of I&C control, schematics, and electrical & piping PI&Ds or other logic control diagrams (e.g., DCSs and PLCs)
Ability to troubleshoot and repair plant IC&E systems
Ability to calibrate I&C systems and equipment including analytical equipment.
Ability to communicate and coordinate work with others on technical subjects across job families.
Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shiftwork, and respond to emergency call outs when required.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, MSProject, preferred.
Proficient in the use and capabilities of the MP2 CMMS software package
Allen Bradley PLC and Instrumentation experience preferred.
DCS experience preferred.
