The HVAC Technician II is a seasoned technician capable of handling more complex service, repair, and installation tasks independently. This role may also mentor or support Technician I staff.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, heating, and refrigeration systems (residential and commercial)
- Perform installations of mini splits, VRF systems, and other ductless hvac and control systems
- Test system performance (e.g. airflow, combustion analysis, refrigerant charges) and adjust for optimal function
- Replace major components (compressors, coils, expansion valves, motors)
- Program, calibrate, and troubleshoot control systems, thermostats, and sensors
- Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal tune-ups
- Mentor or assist Technician I on technical tasks
- Ensure all work meets local codes, standards, and safety protocols
- Maintain accurate work orders, parts records, and diagnostic logs
- Communicate with clients about findings, recommendations, and costs.
- Recommend energy efficient products, such as programmable thermostats or solar panels that can reduce clients operating costs.
- Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- 2–5 years of hands-on HVAC experience
- Certification in HVAC (e.g. EPA 608, trade licenses) preferred
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of electrical, refrigeration, and control systems
- Ability to read schematics and blueprints
- Ability to lead or mentor junior staff
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Strong customer service and communication skills
