I. Position Description
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading the overall HR function within the facility. This position provides both strategic and operational HR support to plant leadership and employees. The HR Manager implements policies and leads all plant-level HR activities, including talent acquisition, employee relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits, training, compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides functional and operational human resources leadership by planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the HR department.
- Partners with plant leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives and promote a high-performance, engaged workforce.
- Maintains an HR information system that meets management reporting needs.
- Manages the full-cycle recruitment process: sources, interviews, and hires qualified candidates.
- Conducts new hire onboarding to support successful integration and positive employee experiences.
- Acts as the facility’s point of contact for benefits and supports corporate benefits administration.
- Oversees the administration of leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, state/local leave policies) to ensure legal compliance and timely processing.
- Ensures proper maintenance, accuracy, and confidentiality of HR records. Manages compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Oversees facility-level payroll-related activities, ensuring accurate and timely employee pay in coordination with corporate payroll.
- Conducts fair, lawful internal investigations in response to employee complaints or concerns and recommends appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintains records of personnel actions, including hiring, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations.
- Supports and coordinates performance management processes to ensure timely and constructive feedback. Partners with supervisors to support employee development.
- Supports and ensures compliance with environmental, health, safety, and housekeeping policies and procedures.
- Tracks HR metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, headcount) to monitor workforce trends and support continuous improvement.
- Performs other related duties as required to support the success of the HR department and the organization.

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience with a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits and training. - 4+ years working in a unionized manufacturing environment with experience working directly with the union on grievances. Experience with union negotiations is a plus.- Proven leadership capabilities with a professional, confident, and assertive communication style.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; strong computer literacy is essential.
- Professional HR certification (PHR, SPHR, or GPHR) is a plus.
- Experience with SAP or similar HRIS systems is a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
