Summary:
The Utility Services team is seeking dedicated Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) operators, to support projects throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. If you’re motivated, safety-minded, and eager to advance your career, we want to hear from you.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Equipment Operation: Safely operate horizontal directional drills (such as Vermeer or Ditch Witch models) to drill, ream, and pull back product lines.
•Site Preparation: Assist in preparing the job site for drilling operations, including locating existing underground utilities.
•Drilling Execution: Set up and complete directional drilling operations according to blueprints, plans, and job specifications.
•Mud Management: Mix, pump, and manage drilling fluids as needed during the drilling process.
•Maintenance: Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and minor repairs on drilling equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
•Safety Compliance: Follow all company and OSHA safety protocols, including the use of PPE and safe operation of machinery.
•Documentation: Accurately complete daily bore logs, equipment inspections, and project reports.
•Problem-Solving: Identify and adjust for soil conditions, obstacles, or changing project needs in real-time.
•Team Coordination: Work closely with the Locator and ground crew to ensure bore accuracy and successful product installations.
Desired Qualifications:
•Experience: 2+ years operating horizontal directional drills in utility construction or a similar industry.
•Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to read and interpret construction drawings, utility maps, and bore plans.
•Certifications: OSHA 10 certification preferred; CDL Class A license is highly desirable.
•Technical Knowledge: Understanding of underground utility construction and HDD best practices, including mud systems and tracking technologies (e.g., DigiTrak or Subsite locators).
•Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and perform physically demanding tasks.
•Experience operating Vermeer or Ditch Witch drilling rigs.
•Familiarity with drill tracking and steering technologies.
•Basic knowledge of utility locating and potholing techniques.
•Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
