POSITION OVERVIEW
The Site Operator plays a vital role in the execution of construction projects. Operating a variety of heavy machinery, they are responsible for tasks such as excavation, grading, and material handling, contributing to the successful completion of construction work.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Operate and maintain heavy machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steer, and other specialized equipment.
•Prioritize and adhere to safety protocols, conduct equipment inspections, and promote a safe working environment on the construction site.
•Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, ensuring it remains in optimal working condition.
•Load, unload, and transport construction materials, equipment, and debris as required.
•Understand and interpret construction plans and blueprints to execute tasks accurately.
•Prepare construction sites by clearing land, excavating trenches, and leveling the ground to establish suitable foundations.
•Collaborate effectively with team members, including supervisors, laborers, and other equipment operators, to coordinate work activities.
•Adhere to environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact when operating heavy machinery.
•Quickly identify and resolve unexpected challenges or obstacles encountered during construction activities.
•Maintain records of equipment maintenance, safety inspections, and daily job activities for compliance and project management purposes.
•Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
•4 years of operating experience required
•Experience in construction required
•Valid drivers license and ability to commute throughout Hampton Roads
•Valid and relevant heavy equipment operator licenses and/or certifications are preferred
•Proficiency in operating a variety of heavy machinery
•Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices
•Ability to read and understand construction plans and blueprints, preferred
•Strong communication skills for effective teamwork
•Physical fitness and stamina to handle the physical demands of the job
•Problem-solving skills and adaptability
•Attention to detail and commitment to safety
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
•Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and sunlight.
•Required to lift heavy materials, operate heavy machinery, and perform tasks that require physical strength and stamina.
•Exposure to potential hazards such as falls, falling objects, heavy machinery, electrical hazards, and more. Following safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is crucial.
