Summary:
The HSE Coordinator is responsible to provide subject matter expertise and support in achieving HSE objectives. The HSE Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing the non-work-related disability and leave management process. The incumbent will be responsible for other HSE programs such as the mental health first aid.
Responsibilities:
- Non-work-related disability and leave management:
- Seek to understand current program and process.
- Complete a gap analysis of what should be in place (consultation with Human Resources).
- Draft program and process, then lead the roll out and execution.
- Mental Health First Aid:
- Research potential competence/ certification (i.e., Mental Health Canada).
- Create a business case and seek funding approval as required.
- Draft program for MHFA awareness for Workers and Supervisors.
- Develop and lead training for Supervisors and offer opportunity for training to our clients.
- Other related duties as may be assigned.
- Post-graduate diploma or degree in health and safety, medical, or related field.
- 3+ years of related experience.- Health and safety and/or mental health first aid certifications (or working towards obtaining them) is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, follow-through and workload planning skills.
- Independent, self-motivated, and able to take the initiative to liaise with other departments and/or external sources.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality, utilize judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Act in a professional, mature, and discrete manner consistently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced level MS Office Suite knowledge.
- Experience working within the mining industry is an asset.
