DEPARTMENT: Operations Technology – F&M Manchester Service Center or Topeka General Office
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Other hours as required)
This job is responsible for providing technology and engineering support of the systems and technologies that are encompassed within the Grid Automation and control systems. These systems include Distribution Control Systems, Historians, Equipment Configuration Software, Reporting Tools, Advanced Distribution Management Systems, Cyber Security requirements and all the technology-based ancillary systems that are directly involved in support of the previously listed systems. Provide architecture design, software configuration/programming, interface connectivity, database support, project management, and advanced technical support for these mission critical systems. Develops studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, cost estimates, budgets. Provides consultation and recommendations to the Company within and to other business units and/or customers because of studying company or customer-owned systems, processes, equipment, vehicles, or facilities. Reviews financial data from budget and actual costs of projects. Frequently operates independently and seeks guidance when appropriate. Generally, is looked to be a team lead. Operates independently with minimal instruction from manager.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university (ABET). Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance. Operations Technology experience and proven leadership abilities preferred. Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and design theory required. Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
PE License required for Principal.
Valid driver’s license required.
Working Conditions: Most work is performed in an office with field work as necessary to perform the job. Travel to other locations within the company is required. Position requires work beyond normal working hours depending on workload, project deadlines, and service restoration efforts. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
Conditions will vary between office and field environments. Time will be spent in an office as well as the field environment with hands-on work. Travel will be required to support field personnel. Additional overnight travel may be required. Work may require additional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays to support a 24 hour per day/seven day per week environment. Must have a satisfactory work record including good attendance.
