Job: GPS Data Collector


Major Responsibilities:

Work shall include, but not be limited to:

A. Attend classroom training on data collection and as-built requirements which will include, but not be limited to computer access and data entry, required documentation and paperwork, and will require completion of the Client’s required Operator Qualifications;

B. Attend required field training and monthly safety meetings.

C. Thorough review of the Client’s construction documents

D. Utilize a computer to connect to the client's electronic database to complete project documentation.

E. When collecting as-builts, utilize GPS units to obtain as-constructed details to update the client's mapping system.

F. Suspending any construction work that, in its discretion, presents an unsafe condition or does not comply with Client’s standards and immediately notify the construction contractor and Client;

G. Suspending any construction work that, in its discretion, creates an environmental non-conformance issue and/or potential damage to environmental resources and immediately notifying the construction contractor and Client's Dispatch Department;

H. Attending the construction contractor's safety meetings and familiarizing itself with the construction contractor's safety practices, which includes, but is not limited to, participating in the construction contractor's JSA, and signing the JSA;


Qualifications


Successful candidates will meet the following qualifications:

- Live within Richfield/Salina area preferably..

- A minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and possess basic computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.

- 2 years of experience preferred in a construction environment or 2 years in a highly regulated, procedure-oriented industry.

- Must be able to complete and pass the client’s recommended operator qualifications.

- Survey experience in the energy industry is preferred.

- Experience in designing, reading, and/or drawing AsBuilts is a plus.

- A valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.

- Must be able to pass a secure background check with high security clearance.

- A minimum of 3 years of stable work history, preferably in the energy industry.

- A strong commitment to personal and job safety.

- Knowledge of use with handheld GPS data collection systems.

- Good verbal/ written communication skills, decision-making skills, and strong work ethic.

- Able to maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment.

- Able to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties, and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.

- A self-motivated individual able to work independently or in a team environment and willing to learn.

- Able to demonstrate sound judgment with the ability to make decisions and corrections when problems are detected.

- A history of being dependable and reliable, taking pride in a job well done, and enjoying working hard.

- Good organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail.

- Good customer relations skills with the ability to interface with corporate and field personnel.

- Able to work outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment.

- Able to work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.

- Able to use physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools.

- Able to climb and work at various heights and may work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched, or kneeling position.

- Able to routinely react to visual, aural, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

- Able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs., manually transport a load up to 75 lbs., and apply up to 100-foot pounds of torque.

- Able to get in and out of vehicles regularly and ride over rough roads.

- Able to wear special safety equipment while working and must be able to lift and put on emergency breathing apparatus and/or protective equipment if required.
