The Global Travel Consultant manages global travel logistics and crew rotations, while adhering to travel programs, policies, and procedures for Occidental Petroleum Corporation and its subsidiaries. This role also supports company executives and employees by ensuring high-quality customer service for all travel needs.
This position demands a highly motivated and resourceful professional, dedicated to providing exceptional travel management services and tailored solutions for an international and domestic travelers. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to excel within a dynamic, fast-paced global setting, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and utilizing industry-leading technologies to ensure flawless travel arrangements. - 5-10 years of progressive experience as a professional travel consultant, with significant emphasis on complex international travel.
- Mastery of native Sabre GDS functionalities (not limited to graphical interface use), including complex fare construction, exchanges, and ticketing.
- Experience in managing crew rotations and understanding of the operational intricacies involved— highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations, multitask, and deliver exceptional traveler service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an aptitude for problem solving.
- Advanced proficiency with travel management software, online booking tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous completing complex trips with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate discretion with sensitive or confidential company information.
- Flexible and adaptable to technological change.
- Actively participate in team meetings and collaborative projects, contributing ideas and feedback to achieve goals.
- Support a positive and inclusive work environment by supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge, and effectively communicating.

- Establishes and upholds departmental procedures and standards for the team, with the aim of ensuring optimal safety for employees and contractors during travel.
- Carries out any supplementary tasks assigned by management.
- Leadership track interest is preferred.

- High-School diploma
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a travel booking function.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience complex international ticketing.
- Minimum of 2 years native Sabre GDS. Minimal use of scripts.
- Excellent time management skills, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in traveler facing customer service.
- Experience using Teams and SharePoint.
- Understanding of common travel policies.
- Team player mindset and a collaborative spirit.
- Bachelor’s degree in Travel Management, Hospitality, or related field.
- Supervisor or management experience a plus.
- In-House Corporate Travel experience.
- Experience as a Concur Travel administrator.
- Prior exposure to projects involving large-scale or complex crew changes.
