Job Summary
The Global Benefits Manager plays a key role in designing, implementing, and managing employee benefits programs across multiple countries within the energy industry. This role requires a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges such as workforce mobility, hazardous duty considerations, and retention strategies in a highly competitive market. This role drives competitive and cost-effective benefits programs that align with business objectives, local labor regulations, and the unique needs of employees working in remote, offshore, or high-risk environments while ensuring seamless execution across different geographies.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Strategic Development & Implementation:
•Develop and oversee global benefits programs, including health & wellness plans, expatriate benefits, retirement plans, and leave policies tailored for the energy sector.
•Align benefits strategies with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
•Lead benefit initiatives that enhance employee engagement and retention.
•Develop and establish health insurance, ancillary programs, and pension plans in all WIS-related countries.
•Liaison with Financial Consultants regarding all 401k Plan matters.
•Manage total rewards assets and budgets with retirement assets and manage the yearly audit of the 401k plan working with the outside audit firm.
2. Compliance & Regulatory Management:
•Ensure compliance with international labor laws, tax regulations, and benefits-related policies.
•Stay updated on legal changes that impact global benefits and provide recommendations accordingly.
•Work with the Regional Human Resources Managers to mitigate risks and navigate regulatory landscapes.
3. Vendor & Partner Management:
•Negotiate contracts with providers specializing in benefits for oil & gas professionals, including health insurance carriers offering coverage for high-risk environments.
•Oversee relationships with insurers, brokers, and retirement plan administrators to enhance offerings for employees stationed worldwide.
•Monitor vendor performance and develop strategies for cost optimization.
4. Employee Engagement, Experience & Communication:
•Communicate benefits information effectively to employees worldwide.
•Oversee benefits-related inquiries and resolve employee concerns efficiently.
•Collaborate with HR teams to create training materials and awareness programs.
•Conduct surveys and gather feedback to improve benefits offerings.
5. Analytics & Reporting:
•Conduct benchmarking studies specific to the oil & gas industry to assess competitiveness and effectiveness of benefits programs.
•Analyze employee feedback and utilization metrics to refine offerings, ensuring they align with industry trends.
•Prepare reports for leadership outlining cost-efficiency, employee participation, and recommendations for benefits improvements.
6. Benefits Administration Responsibilities:
Collaborate with HR Operations to:
•Maintain and update employee records and benefits files.
•Coordinate daily benefits processing, including enrollments, terminations, and claims.
•Resolve benefit-related issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner.
•Collaborate with payroll and ensure that employer contributions and payroll deductions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
•Maintain and create records, reports, and documentation in accordance with federal, state, and provider regulations.
Global:
•Work with controllers in each region to ensure that policy renewals are paid timely to ensure no lapse in coverage.
•Work with Regional HR Managers to ensure that new hires, terminations, and any changes to coverage are made with the vendors in country and/or broker for the country.
•Work with global payroll provider to ensure all pay elements and allowances are set up properly for employees in country.
•Ensure each country requirements are met for employment agreements, union requirements or any specific issues in country.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or related field.
•Eight (8) years’ experience in US and global benefits management, including experience with Leave of Absence, 401(k), statutory benefits, and retirement schemes.
•Strong expertise in global benefits laws, taxation, and compliance.
•Proven ability to manage multiple benefits programs across different countries.
•Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
•Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
•Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
•Strong decision making, problem-solving, critical thinking and analytical skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
•Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
•Skilled in demonstrating innovation and creativity by continually improving internal processes.
•Able to work both independently and with cross-functional teams using good judgment.
•Ability to build relationships within all levels of the organization.
•Desire to work in a team with a results-driven approach.
•Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and be adaptable to various demands.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong working knowledge of benefits technology platforms and tools, preferably UKG.
•Ability to work across diverse cultural environments with sensitivity to local norms and practices.
•Experience in Oil and Gas or Manufacturing industry.
•Experience in multiple Human Resources disciplines.
•Experience in a global multi-national company.
•Experience with major data visualization tools such as PowerBI.
•Experience with Global Mobility.
