A JAB Recruitment client is seeking for a Geotechnical Manager
who is a self-starter and can manage all facets of a geo-environmental or geotechnical services project life cycle for our clients—from assisting with site selection, to designing and running geo-data site investigations, preparing data reports, representing clients at agency meetings, and providing consultation on a broad range of subjects including (but not limited to) environmental, geologic, and geotechnical constraints, as well as applicable regulatory compliance.
This individual should have a strong understanding of site safety and experience managing projects to ensure all work complies with OSHA and local/state permitting requirements. The candidate will be expected to perform business development tasks including client engagement, lead generation, and proposal preparation. Current working knowledge of geo-data markets throughout the State of California and the Western USA is required. Familiarity with geologic studies, geotechnical engineering studies, water resource studies, hazardous-waste assessments, remediation techniques, and industrial hygiene practices is also expected.
Work will additionally include staff mentoring, project management, task management, subcontractor and vendor coordination, business reporting, and invoice management.

- Authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid passport; must be able to travel extensively domestically and internationally.
- Must reside, or be willing to relocate to live within 30–60 minutes of the Sacramento-area office.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required; Master’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or water resource management preferred.
- Licensed California Professional Engineer required.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist designation highly preferred.
- 12+ years of “high-touch” engineering consultation experience in geo-environmental/hazardous-waste assessment. - 5+ years of experience on the management team of an engineering firm; group management experience preferred.- Demonstrated success in building business relationships.
- Knowledge of proposal preparation and lead generation.
- Existing business relationships that can be further developed are a plus.
- Strong understanding of natural-resource sensitivities, environmental regulatory frameworks, geo-environmental and geotechnical investigation methods, industrial hygiene practices, aquifer assessments, well and piezometer construction, geochemistry, field and construction safety practices, hazardous-waste regulations, environmental site assessments, and remedial action/implementation.
- Strong data management, math, and statistics skills.
- Computer literate and able to learn project management and technical software.
- Proficient in technical writing and editing.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance, and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
