Are you our next Geotechnical Engineer?
The Engineer will be responsible for providing project planning and development activities to efficiently manage Gypsum Stack Capital Projects. The engineer will be responsible for project development stages from CPM (capital process management) Project Triage phase of the project through CPM Project Planning and Design phase to support Mosaic's Florida Concentrate Operations. The tasks include developing the project objectives, project team alignment (RACI team), triage, business case, project definition and scope document creation, and project planning and design. The Engineer will also support Mosaic Production and Maintenance teams by working with Operations, site gypsum stack Geotechnical engineers, the Water Balance engineer and other support groups to achieve the strategic priorities of our company. The job will be primarily focused on gypsum stack expansion projects but may include critical closure projects, water/gypsum conveyance projects and water management projects.
What will you do?
•Provide technical computer modeling, analysis, and development of civil and geotechnical designs.
•Collaborate with the various teams such as Operations, site gypsum stack engineers, Permitting, Environmental, and Geotechnical to identify potential Geotechnical Capital Projects.
•Collaborate with the Project Managers (PM’s) and teams involved with the project to prepare and submit an Intake Form (as needed). This includes developing a preliminary problem definition, business objective of the issue that needs to be addressed, a preliminary cost estimate and the basis for the estimate.
•Collaborate with the PM and teams involved with the project to develop a triage, business case and scope documents that details the project definition, business objectives, key drivers, alternatives, schedule priority, scope of the services, risks, and capital allocation. These documents would be circulated with the RACI (responsible, accountable, consulted and informed personnel) team and plant general manager for documented approval.
•Once the business case and scope document are approved, collaborate with the PM in developing a request for proposal (RFP) from relevant contractors. Based on proposals, prepare and submit a Mosaic internal Preliminary Commitment Request (PCR). For each project, a PCR will be used to advance the development of scope, cost estimate, project schedule, engineering design and purchase of long lead items.
•Coordinate the development of the detailed engineering plans for the project. Collaborate with the RACI team for adherence to overall project objectives as well as for operability and maintainability.
•Once projects are approved, participate as part of the technical engineering team for the project to stay informed of project changes that could affect need by dates and priorities for this project or other projects on the project list.
•Work with site gypsum stack Geotechnical engineers on growth charts, disposition plans and review them periodically (at least semi annual).
What do you need for this role?
•Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a major in Civil, Environmental, Mining or related engineering discipline required.
•Surface mining or heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and stormwater management elements. Demonstrated engineering and design experience.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Maintain a cooperative, productive work relationship with management, coworkers, consultants and end users.
•Advanced understanding of personal computers and productivity / application software.
•Graduate level courses or certifications in engineering, business, project management or construction are a plus.
Engineer I
•0-2 years of co-op or internship engineering exp.
•Engineer Intern (EI) Certification is preferred.
Engineer II
•2+ years of surface mining or heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and stormwater management elements.
•Professional Engineer License or Engineer Intern (EI) Certification is preferred.
Engineer III
•4+ years of surface mining or heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and stormwater management elements.
•Professional Engineer License or ability to obtain within 6 months is preferred.
Engineer Sr
•8+ years of surface mining or heavy construction experience with exposure to environmental and safety compliance and stormwater management elements.
