This position supports Client’s Wildfire Mitigation Program by reviewing, maintaining, and analyzing GIS and database (Access) data for accuracy and completeness before it is submitted to internal teams responsible for instantiating and maintaining field devices.
The analyst will assist with both new device installations and maintenance of existing equipment, verifying templates and data accuracy, supporting engineering, and managing the Common Device Database. The work heavily involves GIS data management and data validation for engineering and communications systems.
A typical day involves analyzing and validating data, processing data requests (often from the project manager), and ensuring accurate submission to downstream departments. The analyst may also maintain existing data templates and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve data issues. Most days are spent working independently on assigned datasets, with some collaboration via Teams or email
- Ideal background includes GIS or mapping experience (e.g., utility or communications mapping).
- 2–4 years of relevant experience preferred
- Strong GIS background
- Familiarity with spatial databases like PostGIS, ESRI SDE helps in managing geographic data effectively.
- Understanding data storage and retrieval processes is crucial for any GIS application that relies on backend databases.
- Experience with Access databases and SharePoint
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, SharePoint)
- Familiarity with distribution management systems (DMS) preferred
- Effective data analysis and data validation skills
