The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude and includes the following: a) communicates and gets along with co-workers and the public, b) cooperating with co-workers, d) working as a team member, e) functions well under intense time pressure, f) responding in a positive manner to supervision.
1. Experience in locating, identifying and marking underground utility lines before construction or other projects in the area.
2. Understand basic electricity principals and be able to perform basic tests on metering equipment
3. Assist with the maintenance of distribution and service lines and equipment
4. Assist during system trouble; installs and removes meters; and may assist on service truck
5. Assists with routine maintenance needs of building and facilities.
6. Responsible for tools that are assigned to truck and care and cleaning of vehicle assigned.
7. Be able to lift and walk on rough terrain and to work and drive in all types of weather
8. Be able to respond to service complaints and inspect lines to identify possible problems
9. Must understand and personally perform all duties in accordance with applicable safety and Cooperative policy manuals, as well as being constantly alert to and cautioning his/her fellow employees about existing hazards and/or unsafe practices.
10. Be able to understand and help diagnose system problems
Position requires a high school diploma or GED. Must live in or be willing to relocate to the Rutherford-Polk district. Must have a valid NC driver’s license, with a good driving record and the ability to obtain Commercial Drivers License. May be called upon to work any hour on an as needed basis.
