JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of General Tradesperson.

Reporting to the Trades Management Supervisor, this position is responsible for routine service trades operations, janitorial and custodial work.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Accountable for the health, safety and well being of self and others, in accordance with procedures and standards.

- Assist in performing routine tasks involving, erecting, dismantling, reassembling, moving, loading and unloading, and servicing, various fixtures, materials, structures, furniture, buildings, hardware, equipment, and vehicles.

- Carry out housekeeping and janitorial tasks.

- Perform snow removal and ground maintenance.

- Operate any vehicle or combination of vehicle and trailer up to the level trained.

- Operates portable, hand- and power-driven tools and equipment. Includes duplicators and micro printers.

- Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Grade 10, or equivalent*

- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in maintenance, janitorial, or custodial roles, preferably within an industrial setting

- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions

- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment

- Possession of a valid G-class driver’s license

- Capable of standing for extended periods

- Experience operating heavy equipment considered an asset

- Physically able to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs

- Willing and able to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight stays

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
