Job Summary
The general contractor or carpenter is a key member of the Terra team and performs all the physical tasks at a job site that require a skilled trade in the construction of remote work camps and shop / project construction work. Work done by this position supports the timely completion of a project and the quality of the project. Work is held to a high standard consistent with Terra's values and adheres to all HSE and compliance regulations. A jack-of-all trades, the successful candidate can tackle challenges related to construction and maintenance.
- Work with on-site Terra-contracted labor and assist in the installation, maintenance, and repairs of equipment.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials; Build foundations, columns, suspended slabs, erect wood walls, and construct roof systems.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.
- Proficiency with hand and air tools
- Assist with installation, set-up and tear out of remote camps and ancillary equipment.
- Proven experience with sawing, measuring, sketching, and reading blueprints.
- Troubleshoot and carry out equipment maintenance requirements as needed.
- Work with Terra operations staff on site and identify/contribute to Terra’s Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Improve skill set and knowledge by taking part in industry and Terra sponsored training programs.
- Focus on safety practices and policies while completing all tasks.
- Build ancillary equipment as needed (pipe, hoses, lift stations).
- Various other duties as required.
- A positive team player with strong work ethic who is reliable and punctual.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Organized with the ability to multi-task, including the ability to maintain accurate equipment files.
- Ability to meet job requirements under minimum supervision.
- Excellent and engaged attitude toward workplace safety.
- Ability to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Operator tickets such as Telehandler, Aerial Work Platform and Skid Steer would be considered an asset.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test.
