Summary: The Accountant is responsible for ensuring that Superior Lubricants has accurate financial records. This position will assist in making critical financial decisions by collecting, tracking, and correcting the company’s finances. This role includes preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, assisting with managing budgets and forecasts, ensuring timely tax filings, and participating in audits.
- Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Assist in preparation of analysis of year end audit schedules, reconciliations, and participation in audit processes as requested
- Assist in month end and year end close including journal entries, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets, revenue recognition, and accounting consolidation
- Prepare daily cash position update for company
- Ensure Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled on a recurring basis as required
- Assist in preparation of monthly financial statements, creation of financial packages for President review meetings, and final monthly distribution of results
- Prepare monthly banking requirements including Borrowing Base Certificate and quarterly bank covenant calculations
- Prepare analysis of variances between budgets, prior year, and actual results and year end audit schedules and reconciliations
- Prepare state taxes – including sales, highway use, petroleum business tax, and other tax/governmental reporting tasks
- Support the annual external financial statement and benefit plan audits
- Recommend opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives across all businesses and participate in processes to address
- Collaborate with other departments to get information to assist in understanding financial results and variances
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of verifiable related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (required)
- Manufacturing experience (preferred)
- Experience with State Tax Regulations (preferred)
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, etc.)
- Must possess general math skills and ability to identify numerical errors
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks Online, LeaseCrunch (ASC842), and/or other related ERP accounting and tax software including Avalara
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
