Gas Operations Technician I-IIEaston Utilities is currently seeking to fill the position of a Gas Operations Technician I-II
JOB OBJECTIVE: Provide natural gas customers with dependable and consistent quality service through the construction, operation, and maintenance of natural gas main distribution pipeline systems, regulators, and customer service lines. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-call requirements.
For Placement as Gas Operations Technician I
HIRING RANGE: $23/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Possess a valid driver’s license
•A minimum of two (2) years as a Gas Technician, or equivalent is required; or
a combination of education and experience may be considered.
•Basic knowledge of natural gas distribution systems, natural gas detecting and monitoring devices.
•Reside within 15 miles of 201 N Washington Street Easton MD 21601 or be willing to relocate within (1) year of hire.
•Ability to report to the job site in under 60 minutes while on-call.
•Ability to perform mathematical functions and measurements.
•Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, and SpryPoint.
•Ability to read and understand construction drawings, surveys, gas system maps, valve maintenance maps, leak survey maps, and blueprints.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Obtain and maintain Operator Qualifications Certification (OQ) within six (6) months of hire.
•Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) 10 or higher certification is required or the ability to obtain within one (1) year.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Working outside in all weather conditions.
•Ability to climb, lift, bend, dig, push, pull, and lift 60 pounds regularly, and throughout a workday.
•Ability to work in a hazardous atmosphere while utilizing flame-resistant clothing and breathing apparatus.
•Ability to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
•Ability to pass the annual respirator fit test.
MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Basic knowledge of natural gas distribution pipeline construction, which includes the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas mains and services.
•Operate vehicles, construction equipment, as well as various hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
•Assist other Gas Operations Technicians in the performance of their duties.
•Join pipe by means of butt fusion, electrofusion, or mechanical joints.
•Assist with operating the Pro Air Plant during peak demand.
•Performs with oversight Maryland PSC required maintenance functions.
•Construct, install, and rebuild gas meter sets and allied devices.
•The ability to quickly diagnose and pinpoint gas leaks and mitigate with oversight in a safe manner. Must be able to identify potential ignition sources.
•Assist with stopping and tapping live gas lines and repair gas leaks.
•Understand and observe all Federal, State and Easton Utilities safety rules and regulations. (Maryland PSC, DOT/OPS, EUC O&M and Construction Standards)
•Detect and report to the Superintendent or Lead Technician any unusual conditions, difficulties, malfunctions, or other matters.
•Ensure proper maintenance of vehicles, tools, equipment, work materials, and maintain in good, clean working order.
•Regular, reliable attendance is a requirement of this job.

HIRING RANGE: $27.60/hr. or higher depending upon experience and credentials
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
•Possess a valid CDL Class A driver’s license.
•A minimum of two (2) years as a Gas Technician, or equivalent is required; or
a combination of education and experience may be considered.
•Proficient knowledge of natural gas distribution systems, natural gas detecting and monitoring devices.
•Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping, and SpryPoint
