The Desoto Group and Desoto Line Services is a rapidly growing, full-service EPC firm serving U.S. utilities and other customers. The Desoto Group and DLS offers a wide array of construction services for the gas utility industry, including the installation, replacement, and maintenance of plastic and steel mains and service lines, meter settings, and regulator stations. The Laborer performs general labor activities, on a crew, to assist with the completion of natural gas distribution system projects. This includes installing, replacing, and maintenance of plastic and steel facilities, as well as meter and regulator settings, and restoration of soft and hard surfaces.
· Hand dig holes and trenches with hand tools
· Shovel material, soil and cold patch asphalt mix
· Operate various types of trucks and equipment
· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and field leaders
· Properly lift tools, objects, and equipment of varying weight
· Utilize proper tools to prep hard surfaces for removal.
· Complete hard surface and soft surface restoration with appropriate materials
· Learn techniques for pipe fusion, pipe squeeze-off, meter set build, and pressure testing
· Ability to work outdoors in densely populated and remote areas
· Work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time
· Ability to work at a variety of heights/depths
· Ability to work in small and sometimes confined spaces
· Ability to safely climb up and down a ladder
· Operate or safely work around heavy equipment and machinery
· Obey all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rules and regulations
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years’ experience in lieu of education will be considered and DLS.
· Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment
· Clean driving record and a DOT physical or ability to obtain one upon employment
